A unique approach to therapy… a non-pathologizing approach to therapy…

My approach to therapy is about a high level of specialization, quality & customization for the client. I also want to address my different approach compared to what is the “norm” in the field of professional counseling & medicalized mental health services.

  • I do not offer diagnosis or work within a medicalized mental health model.

  • I do not bill to insurance (requires diagnosing & other limitations).

  • I encourage blood panels to eliminate vitamin & mineral deficiency as a source for symptoms.

  • I see fewer clients to eliminate professional burnout.

  • I only see clients who are within my specialized “niche.”

  • I charge a fee that actually reflects how much of my energy & attention you are receiving.

I do refer out for:

  • Medications/Medication Management (when client wants/needs this)

  • Active Substance Use/Addictions

  • Eating Disorders

FAQs

Who do you work with?

I primarily work with Highly-Sensitive People & clients who are wanting to make big changes in the way they live their life.

I also have success helping clients who have high levels of fear, anxiety & panic.

I work with clients age 19 & up of all gender, sexual orientation, all cultures & religion.

I do not work with clients with active eating disorders or active substance addictions unless they are involved in another support process. I also do not offer couples or family counseling.

A full intake session helps me understand what a person is looking for & to feel into if we are a good match to move forward.

How often will I have my appointments?

Scheduling clients weekly is preferred, especially in the beginning. Consistency, which builds rhythm, is important to how I work with people & I will give you a “spot” that is your day/time.

How long will therapy take?

This is a very hard question for most therapists to answer without meeting someone & talking through their goals for therapy. However, I would say that reducing symptoms such as panic & high anxiety can take as few as 5 or 6 sessions. Deep work related to trauma usually takes at least 3 to 4 months before enduring change can be consistently felt.

My opinion is also that faster is not better. Slow & effective is preferable! In the mindfulness world we say “a little often is better than a lot seldom.”

Do you offer a sliding scale/reduced fee?

I do not with the exception of single parents. If you are a single parent who needs a reduced fee, let’s talk.

My fee balances how many clients I see in a week. This fee ensures I see fewer clients, which means higher quality sessions for you.

I also do not offer a free consultation. My hope is that potential clients read through my website, which is packed with important details. A first full session is a better measure of if you like the way I work with clients.

Do you take insurance?

My practice is 100% private pay.

If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) you can use it for payment as a way to use your insurance benefits. If you have out-of-network benefits (PPO, POS, and HDHP plans) & want to use superbills, let me know & we can discuss how you can use Mentaya to get some reimbursement.

Do you offer online sessions?

For my Colorado practice, I ONLY offer online sessions…keep reading for more info.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
