End trying to think your way out of anxiety…
Perhaps there are places you feel stuck & are in a pattern of repeating stress cycles…
You may have been trying to get out of it on your own for quite a long time. You’re smart & intuitive, so it may be tempting to continue trying to “push-through,” but it could be lovely to feel understood & have support to try something new…yes?
Our work together is a process of moving out of trying to find solutions based on thinking alone. This can be difficult for people who are deep thinkers.
Our work together is a process of moving out of trying to find solutions based on thinking alone. This can be difficult for deep thinkers until you feel the difference of integrating what your body knows & holds.
A curated approach for you…
Body-Centered Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy involves quite a bit of talking & listening. Somatic psychotherapy adds approaches that refine how we “listen” to our body, allowing it to lead & set the pace. Intentionally shaping posture, breath & movement further supports nervous system regulation & can reduce anxiety. Somatic approaches help us “understand” ourselves beyond mental ideas. This is the process of embodiment.
Cognitive learning becomes a helpful addition instead of the only strategy for understanding.
A Contemplative View
Contemplative Psychotherapy & Buddhist Psychology hold a particular view of the mind…that it can be focused & that much suffering results when we don’t know how to interrupt rumination & fearful thoughts.
Contemplative practices & meditation build gray matter in the brain, increase neural connection, interoception & reduce emotional reactivity. Maintaining a practice will CHANGE YOUR BRAIN in a real way.
Mindfulness practice does not need to be religious or spiritual unless that is what suits you.
Neurodivergent-Affirming
It can be limiting when you are neurodivergent & don’t have the opportunity to work with a therapist who specializes in neurodivergent approaches. It can become another situation of being & feeling misunderstood.
When Sensitivity, Autism or ADHD go unrecognized, it creates a world of confusion & burnout that deserves special attention. I help you get to the bottom of any history of mis-diagnosis, defining & understanding your neuro-type, & finding things that work for you in your daily life to interrupt burnout cycles
Meeting the Needs of HSPs
I work with Highly-Sensitive People & other neurodivergent categories. High Sensitivity is a trait one is born with & includes heightened sensory perception, higher levels of empathy & mental depth-processing. While these traits have immense positives, they can also create vulnerabilities to trauma & relational issues.
I wish to convey to HSPs that you do not need to judge yourself for how much rest you need, for how challenging socializing can be, & for how easily you absorb emotions, etc.
Address Sensory Challenges
Highly-Sensitive People are vulnerable to sensory trauma & sensory fatigue. We can address these sensory dynamics in a way that helps establish good “sensory hygiene” to end patterns of burnout & distress, creating supportive habits & helpful tools.
Boundary building, mindfulness practice, somatic skills-building for nervous system regulation are a part of the work we do together.

”There is something in nature that forms patterns. We, as part of nature, also form patterns. The mind is like the wind & the body like the sand: if you want to know how the wind is blowing, you can look at the sand.”
